Vodacom Free Browsing of 5 Educational Websites

Vodacom has made it possible for clients to browse 5 educational websites, without using a shred of data as part of their initiative to enable access to educational resources. All Vodacom customers can make use of the Zero Rated benefits until the end of March 2015.

Zero Rated
Websites that are listed as Zero Rated, means that you can browse and view them for free, even if you have R0 airtime balance or 0 Megabytes of data. Although browsing and viewing the websites are for free, downloading and uploading content to these websites will still be billed, so no touching only looking.

Vodacom Digital Classroom

There are nine regional ICT Resource centres across South Africa, that provide training to teachers. To support this, the Vodacom Digital Classroom contains a vast amount of web-based resources and teaching material, that can be accessed from the internet. Some of the resources include, Mindset Learn Educational Library, Casme Science and Mathematics Training Manuals, Microsoft Partners in Learning and Intel Teach: Essentials Course. In addition to providing these resources, the Digital Classroom also provides information on the nine ICT centres and discussion forumns for teachers.

Mindset Learn

Mindset Network is a non-profit organisation formed in 2002, to educate and improve health in South Africa. It develops sources, distributes and uses digital content. The Mindset Learn was the original programme, and is focused on Grade 10 to 12 learners with Maths, Sciences, Social Sciences and Finance clusters of projects being distributed. The content is aligned with the highest educational standards, and is Curriculum Assessment Policy Statement(CAPS) approved. Content comes in Video Format, and is supported by PDf documents and Computer based interactions. All the conent on Mindset Learn is available to view for free.

Everything Learn Maths

In 2007, with help from the Shuttleworth Fellowship, Siyavula Education was created with the intent to provide open-licensed content to learners across South Africa. The open-licensed content, meant that people where able to access this educational content for free. Siyavula works with volunteers to author these open licensed content, which means that educators have the freedom to edit, copy and reuse resources from Siyavula. Everything Maths website provides Mathematics resources for free, allowing learners to read online and on theirs phones over mxit, see their mobile website.

Department of Basic Education

The Department of Basic Education(DBE) is one the departments of the South African government. It oversees primary and secondary education in South Africa. DBE was created in 2009 after the Election of Jacob Zuma, when the Department of Education was divided. The website provides many useful resources, such as past year exam papers, matric results, Self-Study Guides and school calenders among other things.
